The higher education commission has notified near to the end 2 years Master and Bachelor degrees after 31st December 2020 and these degrees would be no longer accepted. It is informed to the students that the degrees received after the due date will not be recognized from 2021 onwards. According to the sources, HEC has directed all the colleges and the universities to stop the admissions in the MA/MSc degree programs as the authority will not issue the certified degrees after the completion of the program respectively.
The higher education regulator has written a letter to all public and private sector degree awarding institutions mentioning HEC has decided to phase-out the two-year degree BA/BSc degree program.
As per HEC’s decision, degrees of students registered under two-year of bachelor of art (BA), bachelor of science (BSc), bachelor of commerce (BCom), master of art (MA) and master of science (MSc) and Master of Commerce (MCom) degree will not be certified effective from December 3, 2020.
The HEC had earlier officially announced that the old two-year BA/BSc degrees (equivalent to 14 years of education) and MA/MSc will no longer be offered by Pakistani universities after the academic year 2018 and 2020 respectively.
HEC End 2 Year BA/BSc Programs:
Higher education commission had also declared to not recognize the BA/BSc degree programs. The decision was announced in 2018 and the HEC has now notified all the candidates that were registered on or before 31st December 2018 are permitted to complete the degrees till 31st December 2020, Afterward, the degree will not be accepted by the commission in any case.
