London Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik affirmed his retirement from ODI without showing up in his side’s triumph over Bangladesh on Friday.
Shoaib Malik had conceded a year ago that he planned to stop one-day cricket after the World Cup and he finished that arrangement after Pakistan’s 94-run succeed at Lord’s.
The Shoaib Malik 37-year-old will keep on playing the T20 group, however he let it be known was a passionate minute to call time on his ODI vocation.
“I am resigning from one-day cricket,” said Shoaib Malik, who was dropped after a baffling World Cup highlighting two ducks in three matches.
“I’m tragic as I’m leaving the configuration I adored the most yet this will enable me to invest more energy with my family and focus on the T20 World Cup one year from now,” included Malik, who is hitched to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.
Malik’s choice came after a Pakistan win which was insufficient to bring the 1992 victors into the semi-finals.
Pakistan were removed by New Zealand on net run-rate in spite of completing level on 11 after nine matches.
“I am satisfied with my ODI career and winning the Champions Trophy has been the highlight of my ODI career,” he added of Pakistan’s triumph in England two years ago.
Shoaib Malik appeared in 287 one-day internationals and scored 7,534 runs with nine hundreds.
His last appearance came in the defeat against arch-rivals India in Manchester on June 16.
As an off-spinner, he finished with 158 wickets, while he also captained Pakistan in 41 ODIs.
